The municipality commemorates the 59th anniversary of Puerto Lumbreras Independence Day with an act in which distinctions are granted to individuals and institutions that have stood out in the municipality.
Puerto Lumbreras celebrated last night an Institutional Act in the Casa del Cura on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the independence of Puerto Lumbreras, held every July 7.
During the ceremony, awards and recognitions were granted to individuals, companies and institutions that have excelled in the last year in the municipality.
The Mayor stressed that "in this institutional act we pay homage to individuals and groups who are examples to follow and stand out for their great values."
In addition, Tunisia stressed that "Puerto Lumbreras is a welcoming municipality thanks to its hospitable, friendly and hardworking people."
One of the protagonists of the night was the artist Sonia Navarro, honored as "Lumbrerense of the year" for being one of the highest exponents of a generation of lumbrerenses artists that cross borders and who carry the name of Puerto Lumbreras throughout the country, including Outside of Spain.
Likewise, the Diploma of Distinguished Services was awarded to the School of Languages ​​of Lorca for the academic work, the work done during 25 years, and in recognition of the educational and social importance of the School of Law ofLorc and its extension of Puerto Lumbreras.
In addition, the Diploma of Distinguished Services to the Spanish Red Cross was also awarded for its solidarity work.
On the other hand, the Silver Medal of the City was awarded to Moto Club Nogalte for its 27 years of history and for the work of its partners and volunteers in the organization of events nationally and internationally.
This distinction was also received by the Canoe and Balsa Irrigation Community in recognition of the effort made by the owners, farmers and ranchers who are part of this group.
Likewise, the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras collected the Silver Medal of the City on the occasion of its 120 years of activity, generating business dynamism in the two municipalities.
The mayor, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "as each year on July 7 we remember our origins as an independent municipality." In this edition 2017, Puerto Lumbreras has given six distinctions to lumbrerenses and associations that in one way or another, have contributed to the Improvement and progress of the municipality ".
Sonia Navarro
She was born in Puerto Lumbreras in 1975 in the bosom of a family of artists, among which Teresa Navarro, Marcos Salvador Romera and Buenaventura Romera stand out.
He moved to Granada to graduate in Fine Arts and later to Madrid to continue his studies in Photography.
Throughout its trajectory it has realized more than 20 individual exhibitions and more than 40 collective ones.
At the moment, she is embarked on a great artistic project in Nave Oporto (Madrid).

The Official School of Languages ​​turns twenty-five years in Lorca since its inception.

In its almost 120 years of activity, the Official Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras has been characterized by dynamism in the business life of the region of Guadalentín, actively participating in the relevant decisions that have been taken in the interests of all its associates .
