Those interested in visiting the site during the excavation process can do it from Monday to Friday from 11.30 to 12.30, subject to reservation at the Tourist Office.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras and the company Intellectual Heritage have launched a novel initiative under the motto "Opened by excavations" in the vicinity of the Castle of Nogalte.
This activity is carried out from the 12th to the 21st of July, coinciding with the international course of field archeology organized by the University of Murcia, through CEPOAT.
These are guided tours in which children and adults are expected to explore and know the historical heritage of the municipality.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "this proposal is a means of bringing heritage and archeology to citizens, as well as a friendly way of approaching the history of the municipality."
The visitors receive a brief historical introduction of the site and its surroundings by the archaeologists, after which the work is explained, both the remains found and the system of registration of the same (fiches of stratigraphic units, construction units and taking of Quotas).
One of the sections of the guided tour is to show the pieces that appeared during the excavation, from which you can explain to the visitors the manufacturing procedures, the methods of dating or any subject related to the material culture discovered during The excavation process of the deposit.
In addition to publicizing the site and the archaeological findings, the objectives are to instil respect for the inherited cultural heritage, trying to convey it to the generations to come.
