"With this measure we avoid wasting numerous liters of water and can be reused for practices that do not require drinking water."
The Department of Works and Services and the Department of Sports of the City of Puerto Lumbreras have launched a system of water reuse in municipal summer pools.
Specifically, almost 900,000 liters of water will be reused to be used for irrigation and street cleaning.
The Councilor for Works and Services, Eliseo Sánchez, and the Councilor for Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, visited this morning the facilities to supervise the procedure of collection of water.
In this sense, the Consistory has installed a mechanism to take advantage of the 600 cubic meters of water that houses the large pool and the 300 cubic meters that are distributed between the medium and small.
Eliseo Sánchez explained that "with this measure we avoid wasting numerous liters of water and can be reused for practices that do not require drinking water."
In this way, the water from the pools of the Municipal Sports Center will be used to clean the streets and the maintenance of containers of the garbage system of Puerto Lumbreras, as well as irrigation of gardens and public spaces.
In addition, water is also reused to irrigate the Municipal Football field and clean facilities and sports courts.
Finally, the councilman of Works has indicated that "we have put in place the necessary mechanisms to proceed with the reuse of water as we are aware of the need to promote a more sustainable consumption of this precious natural resource."
