Citizens who can receive this aid are holders of a power supply contract that have a debt and can not afford the payment.
In addition, a call has been published to cover a position of social worker in the City Council with the aim of strengthening the work that is provided from Social Services.
The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras will receive 11,836 euros, which will be destined to disadvantaged people so that they can face the electricity, water and gas bills.
The mayor of the town explained that "we offer financial aid to help families to keep the home in decent conditions of light and heat.The ultimate goal is that no citizen is deprived of something as important as heating or light".
With this loan, the payment of invoices will be financed for those people who are not guaranteed the continuity of essential supplies, because they do not have sufficient economic resources.
For this, it is necessary that such circumstances have been accredited by the Social Services of the municipality of Primary Care.
In particular, Lumbrerenses who may receive these grants are people who, having a contract for the supply of electricity (gas or water), have a debt pending payment and can not cope with it.
It also includes those citizens who have the need to process the registration or reconnection for their habitual residence of any of those basic supplies;
even people who can not afford the necessary butane gas and are at risk or social exclusion.
The payment of each of the subsidies will be made in advance and once only at the time of the grant.
The execution period of the projects will be extended until March 31, 2018, although the General Directorate of Family and Social Policies may grant an extension of the term.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia has indicated that "we will process the aid so that the citizens of Puerto Lumbreras do not suffer from energy poverty and we will have direct contact from Social Services with the families so that they can transmit their problems to us".
In addition, the Mayor added that "we continue working so that no Lumbreren is left behind in the economic recovery.To do this, we will continue to create employment opportunities, as we have done so far, as this is the best way to fight against poverty".
To conclude, Tunisia has announced that "a call for selection of an interim official has been published to cover a position of social worker in the City Council with the aim of strengthening the work that is provided to citizens from Social Services."
