Talks will be given in collaboration with the Health Center and a program of leisure and free time activities will be organized to promote healthy activities among young people.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Social Policy, will launch three projects focused on the prevention of alcohol and other drug use among the youngest.
The mayor of the town has highlighted "the important scope of this preventive program, which will involve nearly a thousand young people from all schools in the municipality."
On the one hand, the ARGOS program will be developed, aimed at students of the ESO of the IES Rambla de Nogalte, whose main objective is the prevention of problems related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and cannabis.
In this way, in collaboration with the Health Center, informative talks will be held by health professionals so that young people are aware of the effects and consequences of using drugs.
The day will be developed in a participatory way to make students reflect on why this type of consumption can generate drug dependency to the point of endangering their health and the relationship with their environment.
An exhibition of posters alluding to this problem, along with the realization of different teaching units in their respective centers, will complete the actions of this program.
On the other hand, the town will launch the entertainment program Conecta-t, focused on over 16 years.
This program aims to be an alternative to the most common forms of leisure and common among young people.
Some of the activities included in the program are hiking trails, guided tours of the Astronomical Observatory, nighttime aquatic activities in the municipal swimming pools, as well as awareness-raising activities to ensure compliance with current legislation regarding the dispensation of alcoholic beverages and tobacco. in the establishments of the municipality.
The activities that will be included in this program will be developed mainly in afternoon, night and weekend hours.
"We will offer an alternative leisure and free time for young people to occupy their time in a variety of activities related to healthy habits, which will promote attitudes such as tolerance and respect," said Councilor for Youth , Andrés López.
Likewise, a project will be carried out to publicize the existence of an online course aimed at fathers and mothers for the universal prevention of their children's alcohol consumption.
In this way, a social worker will be responsible for disseminating the existence of this online course in the four public schools, in the Rambla de Nogalte Institute and in the different local associations.
Under the name 'Prevenir desde pequeños', the course offers educational recommendations broken down into five themes, so that parents reflect on their responsibility in the education of their children, which includes the prevention of the consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
The course serves as a guide to know how to act in certain situations and avoid the problems caused by the consumption of alcoholic beverages in adolescents and young people.
