The meeting was chaired by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, the Minister of Finance and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.
The Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras held a plenary this morning in the new Nursery of Cultural Enterprises of Puerto Lumbreras, which has analyzed various issues of interest to the municipality.
The meeting was chaired by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez, the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Andrés Carrillo, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, Juan Francisco Gómez.
One of the topics that has been addressed in the meeting has been the recent start-up of the Nursery of Cultural and Creative Companies.
The Mayor explained that "in a few weeks many entrepreneurs will be installed in this infrastructure that helps boost and develop business projects and that allows more opportunities for employment."
Tunisia stressed that "the new Business Incubator was born as a project to help the creation of companies, with the primary objective of supporting and facilitating entrepreneurs the start-up of their project, increasing local development and diversification of the economic activity in our municipality. "
Mª Ángeles Tunisia recalled that "the local unemployment rate stands at 8%, well below the regional and national rate, unemployment registered in November 2017 has been reduced by 65 people with respect to the data of November 2016 ".
On the other hand, the mayor stressed that "Social Security affiliations have risen by 204 people in the last month.The total of self-employed Social Security affiliates in Puerto Lumbreras is 27.51% .The weight of self-employment in our municipality it is above the regional average (18%) and national (17.44%) ".
"We have to continue working in this line, they are positive data but we can not relax".
Tunisia explained that "these data are the result of the implementation of new employment and training plans, job fairs and other activities developed in recent months with the aim of generating new opportunities in the municipality."
Another aspect addressed at the meeting was the request made by the City Council for the construction of a new access from the A-7 motorway to the industrial estate of the town with the aim of promoting communications in the industrial zone.
On the other hand, the project for the construction of a privately owned bilingual school, which will come into operation as of the school year 2018/2019, has been analyzed at the meeting.
Being a private initiative, the construction and construction of the educational project will not entail any cost for the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
In this regard, Tunisia stressed that "the implementation of this project will create new opportunities and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy with the generation of more than fifty direct jobs between teachers, assistants and staff of the dining room, as well as a score of indirect positions with the hiring of gardeners, maintenance services and suppliers ".
During the meeting, the current situation of the General Plan of Urban Planning and the future creation of a residence for the elderly in the municipality was studied.
Finally, the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Andrés Carrillo, explained the regional budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2018.
