The Department of Physical Activity and Sports of the City of Puerto Lumbreras has acquired new sports equipment for water activities and swimming courses of the Municipal Sports Center.
The Councilor for Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, stressed that "due to the extensive offer of water courses and the high demand of users we have considered it convenient to renew a large part of the material that was damaged by the use and the passage of time".
In this way, the City Council has acquired swimming equipment for an amount greater than 1,000 euros with the aim of providing a better service in public facilities.
Among the new elements that have been incorporated include high resistance latex bands, foam anklets, water gloves for kick-boxing, swimming bracelets for adults and aquatic oars to perform water traction exercises.
Currently, the Sports Center offers swimming courses from Monday to Saturday in shifts of three, two or one day per week.
The Department of Sports has designed a program with different swimming courses divided by age groups, among which is swimming for babies from 6 months to 3 years, swimming for children from 3 to 4 years, swimming for children from 5 to 7 years , children's swimming from 8 to 11 years old, swimming for adolescents from 12 to 16 years old and swimming for adults (over 16 years old).
The program also offers the possibility of therapeutic swimming, indicated for the treatment of diseases related to the spine, osteoarthritis or with cardiovascular diseases and contractures.
Also, aquasalud, aquagym, aquagap, and synchronized swimming courses are held.
The Councilor for Sports recalled that "the Municipal Sports Center has discounts, quarterly and biweekly rates, responding to the needs posed by users, thus allowing greater savings to citizens."
Finally, it should be noted that the Municipal Sports Center has recently extended the opening hours of its facilities.
Thus, the center is open from Monday to Friday in the morning and afternoon, and on Saturdays in the morning from 09.00 to 14.00.
In addition, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays the equipment is open to the public from 08:00 to 22:00 without interruption.
