The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries plans to invest 210,000 euros in 2018 in the installation of photovoltaic panels in the reclaimed water treatment plant (WWTP) of Puerto Lumbreras in order to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
The Minister of Water, Francisco Jódar, visited the facilities today and explained that this action "is part of the commitment of the regional government to the environment and sustainability" and will be carried out through the Sanitation and Purification Entity (Esamur ).
Francisco Jódar explained that, with the installation of photovoltaic panels, it is expected to replace the electric power and it is estimated that the reduction in the current energy consumption of the plant will be 25 percent.
