"We intend to improve the state of conservation of tennis courts with the aim of promoting the practice of this sport," said Juan Rubén Burrueco.
The Department of Physical Activity and Sports of the City of Puerto Lumbreras has announced that it will launch in the coming months adaptation works on the tennis courts located in the Municipal Sports Center.
Specifically, the actions will consist in the improvement of the state of the tennis courts with the renovation of the paving, which will subsequently be painted.
In addition, the lines of play will also be reviewed, according to the regulations of the Spanish Tennis Federation.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, explained that "with these efforts we intend to improve the state of conservation and safety of tennis courts with the aim of promoting the practice of this sport that has a large number of fans in the municipality ".
"This is an intervention much in demand by fans of this sport, which will be held during the summer months so as not to harm the students of the tennis school who use the slopes daily from September to June." explained Burrueco.
With this work, whose budget amounts to approximately 15,000 euros, a considerable improvement of the installation will be achieved that will directly affect users.
It should be noted that this action adds to others already made last year.
At the end of 2017, painting and repair works were carried out on the fence posts, replacement of the tensioning system and the metal mesh was changed with a new anchoring system to the ground to prevent it from getting up and causing some kind of damage to the users
The tennis courts that will be repaired are for public access and use, upon reservation at the Municipal Sports Center.
In addition, each week these facilities are used by more than 140 students of the Tennis Club of Puerto Lumbreras.
The tennis courts also host numerous championships throughout the year such as the 12-hour tennis tournament or the tennis championship on the occasion of the festivities.
The Councilor for Sports has stressed that "we will continue investing in sports facilities so that our neighbors have decent infrastructure and quality."
