The actions are carried out through the Cooperation Plan for Works and Municipal Competition Services (POS) launched by the Community.
Work has already begun on improvement in accessibility and renovation of sidewalks and agglomerate in San Javier street.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, and the Councilor of Works, Eliseo Sánchez, have visited the area to supervise the actions that are being carried out.
In particular, work related to earthworks, plumbing, masonry, paving and road painting is being carried out to condition the street.
The mayor of the town stressed that "these actions respond to the need to adapt one of the main roads of the municipality through which thousands of people pass daily."
It should be noted that Calle San Javier gives access to the only Secondary Education Institute in Puerto Lumbreras, the Juan Antonio López Alcaraz Primary Education School, the Ana María Sánchez Nursery and a sports hall.
As part of the improvement works, the installation of a rainwater collector is planned to evacuate the water and prevent the accumulation of rain on San Javier Street.
In addition, a collector will be built to improve the sanitation network that will collect the water discharge and transfer it to the treatment plant.
The mayor stressed that "works will be carried out for the collation of a collector that will alleviate the collapse of the general sewerage network in periods of rain".
These improvements are made through the Plan of Cooperation to Works and Municipal Competition Services (POS) launched by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
In total, the regional government will invest more than 140,000 euros in works framed within this plan.
To conclude, Mª Ángeles Tunisia stressed that "the actions of the Works and Services Plan have been agreed with the different business organizations of the municipality, through a process of citizen participation."
