On Friday, February 9, from 5:00 pm, there will be a Carnival Party, intended for children and at 9:00 pm, the chirigota Milla will perform.
As a novelty, the first edition of the chirigotas contest has been organized.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Culture, has developed a recreational and cultural program to celebrate the arrival of Carnival to the municipality.
The children of the schools of the locality will be the protagonists of the parades that will be realized the days 8 and 9 of February, in the environs of their respective educative centers.
Around more than a thousand students from the four public schools will be present at these parades, enlivened with music, which will not lack original costumes.
On Friday, February 9, from 5:00 pm, there will be a Carnival Party, intended for children, in the sports pavilion of San Javier Street.
The activity will have a contest of costumes, musical performances, children's games and many surprises.
In addition, dancers from the Riá Pitá dance academy will perform a performance inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland.
At mid-afternoon, a jury will choose the winners of the costume contest that will be awarded with lots of school material.
Thus, there will be three children who get the prize for the most original costume.
In addition, a snack will be offered for the attendees and all the children will be able to take their souvenir photo, since a "photocall" will be installed in the pavilion's premises.
On the other hand, for the more adult public the performance of the chirigota del Milla and the murga "Los Reyes de la Sabana" was organized on Friday, February 9 at 9:00 pm at the Cultural Center with free admission.
As a novelty, this year the I Chirigotas Contest will be held, organized by the Day Center for the Elderly of Puerto Lumbreras (Recopema).
People of any age can participate forming a chirigota with a minimum of 10 disguised components.
The participation of each component will last five minutes and the lyrics, which may be accompanied by musical instruments, must be original.
This contest will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 4:00 pm at the Day Center for the Elderly.
Registration can be done until February 12 at the email address cdialumbreras@recopema.com
It should be noted that cash prizes will be awarded to the two groups that stand out for their originality, staging and musical quality.
