A collaboration agreement has been published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia between the Autonomous Community, through the Murciano Institute of Social Action, and the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, for the provision of the Day Center service for people with disabilities intellectual in situation of dependence in Puerto Lumbreras.
Specifically, the Consistory will receive a total subsidy of 267,998.40 euros, corresponding to the period 2018/2019 to improve comprehensive care to users of the center with grades III, II and I dependence.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, stressed that "one of our objectives is the satisfaction of social needs, making effective the right of citizens to enjoy basic levels of social welfare and to have the services that meet those needs social, promoting and enhancing for it the accomplishment of programs that allow to extend the existent services of attention to the people with dependence, in aras to improve their conditions of life ".
The Day Center service for people in situations of dependency offers rehabilitation programs and promotion of personal autonomy.
It is a resource that allows the person in a situation of dependency to stay at home, and therefore, in their usual family and social environment.
The Day Center includes basic services of maintenance and assistance in basic activities of daily life;
therapeutic services of social, psychological, occupational therapy and health care;
as well as accessory services, among which the accessible transport, health care, security and surveillance of the center stand out.
In the same way, therapeutic and health intervention programs are developed, which vary depending on the degree of dependence.
In addition, an intervention program with families has also been designed, in which information, counseling, training and family therapy are provided.
"With the Day Center service we try to promote a better quality of life for these people, enhancing their autonomy and adequate living conditions in their own family environment and community partner, delaying, or even avoiding in this way, their income in residential centers ", explained the mayor.
The Day Center for people with intellectual disabilities of municipal ownership, is located on Calle Los Limoneros s / n, and is duly accredited to provide the Day Center service by the competent body of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, counting with a maximum of 30 authorized places.
The team of professionals of the center develops the programs carried out with the users, related to areas such as daily life skills, multisensory stimulation, and audiovisual projections, as well as alternative communication, leisure and free time, knowledge of the environment , physiotherapy, sports and culture.
The purpose is to satisfy social needs and make effective the right of citizens to enjoy basic levels of social welfare.
The equipment that houses the Day Center for people with disabilities has an approximate area of ​​more than 2,100 square meters and includes an Early Care Center.
The services are managed by the Diagrama Foundation, specialized in the care of people with disabilities.
