The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has surpassed for the first time in its history the figure of the 15,000 inhabitants registered.
According to the latest data from the municipal register, the town currently has a total of 15,020 registered citizens.
The female population represents 49.45% and the male population 50.55%.
In the last 20 years, the population has grown by 4,435 inhabitants.
From 10,585 inhabitants in 1997 it has gone to 15,020 in 2017. Since 1997 the municipality has been registering an increase of continued form in its population figures, except in 2013 that there was no rise.
In the last ten years Puerto Lumbreras experienced an increase of 2,056 people.
On the other hand, it should be noted that in the year 2017 there were 135 births.
Likewise, the municipal register records that Puerto Lumbreras is home to 3,502 people of other nationalities, from 67 different countries.
The foreign citizens with the greatest presence in the municipality come from Morocco, Romania and Ecuador.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras has stressed that "Puerto Lumbreras is a city in constant growth, we strive to offer more and better services day after day with the aim of improving the welfare of citizens." More and more people are choosing Puerto Lumbreras as a place of residence, we have quality public infrastructures in education, sports and culture, as well as a magnificent network of public nurseries to favor work and family conciliation. "
