The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has begun work aimed at reinforcing horizontal signage in the city.
Specifically, during the next weeks will be repainted more than 60 pedestrian steps located in different areas of the municipality.
Improvement and painting work has already begun on Adolfo Suárez Avenue this week.
The works will be extended during the next few days to the Murcia Region avenue, Juan Carlos I, San Francisco street, Mayor and Nuestra Señora del Rosario, among others.
Councilman Works, Eliseo Sanchez, explained that "the goal of these actions is to achieve the repainting of all pedestrian steps that show some kind of deterioration or have lost the necessary visibility, contributing to the city can gain in security, fluidity, comfort and efficiency of the circulation, both for drivers and for cyclists and pedestrians ".
In addition, Eliseo Sánchez has highlighted "the dual role of this Comprehensive Horizontal Signaling Improvement Plan, which not only guarantees the perfect state of pedestrian crossings and, with that, the safety of all, but also contributes to the Port's Lumbreras offers the best image to neighbors and visitors ".
To finish this action correctly, the Consistory also asks for the collaboration and understanding of the citizens before the possible inconvenience that these tasks may cause, respecting the necessary drying times of the paint on the road.
The painting works are being carried out trying to minimize the punctual traffic cuts that they require, so that they do not affect traffic or pedestrians.
It should be noted that many pedestrian crossings of the municipality already have lighting reinforcement, through led lights, to increase the level of attention of drivers in sensitive places and improve road safety for citizens.
