The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, has been present at the meeting, being the only municipality in the Region of Murcia with representation in the network.
The Governing Council of the National Network of Local Entities for Transparency and Citizen Participation has elected the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras as the venue to hold its ordinary session today.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, thanked the members of the network and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces that have chosen Puerto Lumbreras to host this meeting "with which practices related to transparency and transparency are favored. municipal participation in public affairs. "
The Governing Council is the representative, government and administration body of the Network and is in charge of developing resolutions approved by the Network Assembly. To become a member, you must belong to a local corporation that is a titular member of the network.
Thus, this Council, which is chaired by the mayor of Elche, has two vice-presidents and 14 members, among whom is the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez, being the only municipality in the Region of Murcia with representation.
The Network of Local Entities for Transparency and Citizen Participation is an initiative of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which aims to promote innovation and permanent improvement of the relationship between local governments and citizens under the principles of Open Government and through the exchange of experiences and lifelong learning, working in a network and developing projects.
It also aims to promote the advancement of policies of transparency, participation and effective citizen collaboration in the set of Spanish local entities to achieve stable coexistence frameworks that favor the economic and social development of the territories, as well as facilitate the exercise of rights of access to information and participation to citizens and society, at the local level, seeking involvement and commitment to public action.
For the fulfillment of these objectives, the network facilitates the exchange of information on topics that affect members at national and European level, organizes and participates in meetings, seminars and congresses, and provides advisory and assistance services for its members.
It should be noted that, at the request of the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, the Governing Council invited the meeting to the Minister of Transparency and Participation, Noelia Arroyo.
During the course of the meeting, the Governing Council has followed up on the agreements adopted by the General Assembly, as well as the status of the network and the III Open Government Plan.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia has positively assessed the work carried out by this body and stressed that "transparency and participation are the best tools to bring the administration closer to citizens".
