13 people have obtained the certificate of professionalism in basic kitchen operations and 15 students have obtained the certificate of professionalism in basic restaurant and bar operations.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, and the general director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Manuel Fernández-Delgado, today delivered the certificates of professionalism of "basic operations of restaurant and bar" and "basic operations of cooks "to almost thirty students.
Specifically, 13 people have obtained the certificate of professionalism level 1 in basic cooking operations.
This certificate has been obtained by successfully passing a training action of 350 hours (270 theoretical-practical hours in the training center and 80 hours of internship in company).
This course has included contents related to the application of standards and hygienic-sanitary conditions in restoration;
provision of raw materials in kitchen;

elaboration of mixed dishes and appetizers.
In this way, the general competences that the students have acquired are to prepare and present simple culinary elaborations;
assist in the preparation of more complex elaborations;
techniques and basic rules of handling, preparation and conservation of food.
On the other hand, 15 students have achieved the level 1 professional certificate in basic restaurant and bar operations.
In this case, the participants have made a training action of 290 hours with 80 hours of internships in companies.
Throughout the formative activity, the students have studied the hygienic-sanitary norms in restoration;
the use of the basic endowment of restaurant and assistance in the preservice;
basic service of food, beverages and post-service tasks in the restaurant;
provision and storage of food and drinks at the bar;
as well as preparation and service of drinks and fast food at the bar.
The theoretical and practical training was carried out in the Hotel Riscal of Puerto Lumbreras, since the Center for Tourism Qualification of Murcia decentralized its training activity in this facility.
Likewise, the professional practices were carried out in different companies and establishments of the municipality.
The mayor has highlighted the narrow relationship between training and employment "to get a job is necessary to have adequate training, an accreditation that provides security to the employer that this person is trained to perform the job."
Finally, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Angeles Tunis, stressed that "through these training courses students improve their chances of finding a job." It is important to promote initiatives such as this that result in the culinary and professional qualification because, in the tourism model, gastronomy and restoration play a differential role ".
