The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Public Spaces and in collaboration with the concessionaire of parks and gardens, launches an Urban Tree Plan with the replacement of more than 120 trees, which will improve the image of the city.
In this way, they will occupy about a hundred empty tree pits.
Several specimens will be planted, such as mulberry trees, aligustre, acacias or eugenias, with the aim of increasing the green spaces and the wooded area of the town.
The selection of species is made taking into account the characteristics of the area.
Likewise, the plantation and replacement of the trees will follow technical criteria, with the distances and conditions that guarantee their survival and with species that adapt to the urban environment, a task that will be carried out according to the life cycle of the trees.
The plantation is taking place in different areas of the municipality and districts such as Avenida Adolfo Suarez, Pedro Garcia Rubio, Almeria, San Francisco, Juan Carlos I, as well as in public parks and roundabouts in the town.
The Councilor for Public Spaces, Juan Rubén Burrueco, explained that "the appropriate species have been selected for each type of public space, taking into account the factors that favor the tree's roots and the place where it best fits."
On the other hand, it should be noted that the City of Puerto Lumbreras has recently requested about 150 trees and forest plants to the Directorate General of Natural Environment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia to continue the work of replanting.
