The Association for the care of people with Autism and Developmental Disorders of the Murcia Region (Asteamur) opens a new headquarters in the Juan López Infant School.
The mayor of the town, M ª Angeles Túnez, and the area coordinator of the Asteamur association, Amparo Hidalgo, inaugurated yesterday afternoon the new headquarters of the Association for People with Autistic Spectrum Disorders of the Region of Murcia (Asteamur) .
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has given a room of the Juan López Children's School to the association, which is located next to the Sacred Heart School.
This non-profit association will work for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), always with interventions and specialized professionals, defending their rights and interests and working towards normalization.
The association intervenes with children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with this disorder, attending to their families and intervening therapeutically to improve their quality of life.
His project aims at three basic parameters: integrate, stimulate and socialize.
The mayor of the town stressed that "this association has a young, innovative and professional spirit aimed at providing quality services that cover most of the range of needs that children with ASD have throughout their growth."
Among the services provided are individual therapeutic intervention, educational intervention in schools, group intervention, as well as home intervention.
In the same way, the association will make standardized culture and leisure activities available to its users with the necessary professional support.
Its objective will be to promote the enjoyment of free time through meetings, workshops and outings that enable playful stimulation, learning through play, sensory stimulation, social interaction and, of course, fun.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia stressed that "with the inauguration of this new headquarters we want to make it easier for families that have a member with autism spectrum disorder so that they can be attended by professionals without having to travel to other municipalities."

It should be noted that recently the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras approved a motion, through the Municipal Plenary, to favor the inclusion of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
In this regard, it has been agreed to implement awareness and dissemination programs for all Autism Spectrum Disorders and to develop awareness campaigns on autism, especially in educational centers, in order to facilitate the social inclusion of these people and promote respect for diversity since children.
Likewise, a project will be launched to create signage with pictograms, which will be approved by associations related to TEA.
The mayor, Mª Ángeles Túnez, explained that "we are going to create spaces and understandable environments that encourage participation and autonomy, regardless of the characteristics or personal conditions, facilitating social inclusion and cognitive and sensory accessibility."
