The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Water, has organized a special program of activities on the occasion of World Water Day (March 22), which is expected to participate about a thousand of people, especially children.
Specifically, the program includes lectures on water awareness, dramatized visits to the hydraulic infrastructure of the Casa del Cura, and storytellers with environmental themes.
This week the talks began at Asunción Jordán School, Sagrado Corazón, Juan Antonio López Alcaraz and the Rambla de Nogalte Institute.
On the other hand, a storyteller will be developed at the Purísima Concepción school in La Estación-Esparragal on April 4, addressed to children of 3, 4 and 5 years old.
The program will continue with dramatized visits to the hydraulic infrastructure of the Casa del Cura on 3, 4 and 11 April.
Children and adults may contemplate the operation of a water catchment, storage and distribution system typical of traditional Lumbreren agriculture.
The visit will be guided by unique characters, who will represent the ancient farmers of the Casa del Cura.
In addition, the assistants will visit the ethnographic room of agriculture and livestock and they will be able to know the system of irrigation of the crops of season.
The councilor of Agriculture, Livestock, Water and Pedanías, José María Parra, stressed that "we have designed this program of activities to raise awareness, especially children, about the need to make a responsible consumption of water.It is essential that children grow up with a greater awareness of the use of natural resources and the importance of their preservation ".
On the other hand, on April 6 a storyteller is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm in the Reina Sofía public park.
The objective of this activity is none other than to raise awareness of the need for the efficient use of an indispensable resource such as water, in a fun and entertaining way.
Finally, it should be noted that more than 900 people are expected to participate in this program of activities that has been designed in collaboration with the Sanitation and Purification Authority of the Region of Murcia (Esamur) and the company Alimer.
