"We consider it convenient to implement open classrooms in schools in the municipality so that students with needs are perfectly served, offering a quality educational response tailored to their needs."
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Municipal Plenary, will request the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports the creation of open classrooms in the schools of the town.
The purpose of the open classrooms is to provide an adequate context for some students who have serious and permanent special educational needs derived from autism and other pervasive developmental disorders, such as severe intellectual disability.
The Councilor for Education, Sonia Lopez, stressed that "we consider it convenient to open classrooms in schools in the municipality so that students with individualized attention needs are perfectly served, offering a quality educational response tailored to their needs."
The schooling of these students requires constant and individualized help and significant adaptations of the curriculum, which can not be attended to within the ordinary classroom with support.
It should be noted that these classrooms have teachers of Therapeutic Pedagogy (PT) and of Audition and Language (AL) and Technical Educational Assistant (ATE).
In addition, they can also count on other specific professionals such as physiotherapists, depending on the special educational needs of the students.
To conclude, Sonia López stressed that "with this measure we want to continue helping those who need it most, we are committed to the integration of all students on an equal footing".
