The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has scheduled a series of dramatized visits to the hydraulic infrastructure of the Casa del Cura on 3, 4 and 11 April.
The objective of this initiative is that both children and adults can know first-hand the functioning of a water catchment, storage and distribution system typical of traditional Lumbreren agriculture.
To do this, the visit is guided by unique characters who, dressed in attire and manners, represent the ancient farmers of this manor house with typical rural farmhouse structure built in the eighteenth century.
During this tour, attendees also have the opportunity to visit the ethnographic room of agriculture and livestock, along with the irrigation system of those crops that are seasonal.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, has highlighted the character of raising awareness of initiatives such as this one, as it affirms "it is of vital importance to raise awareness among the youngest children in the appropriate use of natural resources and their preservation throughout history and tradition of our municipality. "
This is an activity included in the special program of activities organized by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Water on the occasion of World Water Day, March 22, designed in collaboration with the Sanitation and Purification Entity of the Region of Murcia (Esamur ), Sakata, + Broccoli, Sacoge, Consum and Alimer supermarkets.
It is expected to involve about a thousand people through activities that have already begun with talks in various schools in the municipality.
The next scheduled activity is a storyteller aimed at children of 3, 4 and 5 years that will take place in the Purísima Concepción school of La Estación-Esparragal on April 4, and that will be repeated on April 6 at 5:00 pm in the public park Reina Sofía.
