The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras launches, for the second year in a row, a process of consultation and participation so that citizens are the ones who decide the fate of public money.
Specifically, 30,000 euros have been reserved for cultural activities and 281,975 euros for works.
The mayor of the town, Maria Angeles Tunisia, yesterday held the first working meeting with the business association Aseplu and the Official Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras to hear their proposals and opinions.
The process has several participation phases.
First, there will be various meetings with associations and social and economic groups to analyze the needs of the municipality and know their opinions.
Subsequently, a participatory process open to the whole society will be launched, in which citizens will be able to decide which projects the City Council should execute.
Lumbrerenses can vote telematically and also through ballot boxes, which will be installed in different parts of the municipality.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, explained that "we are going to encourage the participation of the citizens, giving them more prominence in the budgets."
