Tuesday April 10, 2017. Puerto Lumbreras launches a project under the slogan "Historical heritage watchmen", intended for schoolchildren of the four public schools to become aware of the importance of knowledge and protection of culture in their environment more near.

This program intends for 6th grade students to discover the past of their municipality, its history and traditions, through awareness-raising work that emphasizes the importance of knowing the heritage, valuing it, preserving it and disseminating it.

Councilor for Education, Sonia Lopez, stressed "the program does not only seek to offer a class on the history of Puerto Lumbreras, but to educate in values ​​with the aim of promoting care and respect for the cultural and natural heritage of our municipality."

In this sense, the project considers heritage as a tool to make history, as a tourist resource that attracts visitors to the municipality and, therefore, economic development.

The project includes theoretical-practical lectures of 55 minutes during school hours taught by an experienced instructor who explains what is the heritage, the types of heritage, what are their problems and their benefits.

In addition, during the talks students are encouraged to make proposals for the benefit of conservation and dissemination of heritage, establishing a space for participation and proposals.

In this way, students are encouraged to apply what they have learned, each child must commit to contribute their grain of sand for the conservation and dissemination of heritage.

Said commitment is expressed in writing in a form that is filled with their data, they sign it and the action they wish to undertake is established.

In this way they become "Watchers of the heritage of Puerto Lumbreras".

In return, as a stimulus and recognition of the work done, a diploma accompanied by a small gift is given to each of the students.

In addition, an idea will be chosen among all the proposals in order to transmit it to the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, which will take it into account for its implementation.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the project has been promoted by Inteligencia Inteligente, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, the Association of Mothers and Parents of the Juan Antonio López Alcaraz and Decokasa School.
