More than a thousand schoolchildren will learn during this month road traffic regulations and responsible behavior on the streets from the figure of a pedestrian and a bicycle driver.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Education and the Department of Public Safety and in collaboration with the Traffic Department of the Region of Murcia, has organized a road safety education in the four public schools and the Municipal Network of nurseries.
The sessions, given by local police officers, aim to raise awareness of the importance of road safety for the most vulnerable groups in situations of road accidents or traffic accidents and the acquisition of appropriate behavior guidelines for safe and sustainable mobility.
In road safety education classes, the figure of the driver is represented by children on bicycles who must respect all the rules they find in their path.
In this way, the route they must take is made up of different traffic signs such as traffic lights or pedestrian crossings, which makes it easier for schoolchildren to learn this subject.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Dolores Arenas, stressed that "with this initiative habits of observation and prudence are created, knowledge of traffic regulations is encouraged and the figure of the Local Police is closer to the little ones".
To conclude, Arenas has concluded that "more than a thousand schoolchildren will learn during this month road traffic regulations and responsible behavior on the streets from the figure of a pedestrian and a bicycle driver".
