The new Center for the Interpretation of Nature receives half thousand visitors since its opening last June (24/08/2010)

The new equipment contributes to the enhancement of the natural heritage of the municipality through the interpretation of the different elements of their natural environment as flora, fauna and landscapes.

The session held open days and has included visits to the new equipment in the summer of leisure.

The new Interpretation Centre of Nature has received five hundred visitors since its opening last June.

To promote the new equipment, the council held open days and guided tours during the summer months that are included in the Program for Promotion of Rural Tourism.

According to the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "since its opening, the new Interpretation Centre has received numerous nature tours both local citizens and other municipalities in the Region of Murcia."

According to Sanchez, the high number of visits has occurred due to "increasing activities scheduled throughout the summer at the Youth Hostel Jara Cabezo with the many summer camps as well as the wide range that we put in place during the months summer and has been complemented by other activities such as visits to the new Route Astronomical. "

In addition, Sanchez explains "The new Centre of Interpretation of the Nature of Puerto Lumbreras offers visitors information about the different natural areas in the municipality among which the Cabezo la Jara, who has been nominated as a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and will become part of the European Network of Natural Areas: Natura 2000. "

Its facilities include about 200 square meters which is located a reception, an audiovisual room, and a permanent exhibition area is divided into five thematic groups: flora, fauna, landscapes, human and natural environment.

Specifically, the area dedicated to natural area natural enclaves are described as the head of the Jara, the Rambla de Nogalte and nature trails are there in the municipality.

This space contains a selection of fossils and minerals from the area, and incorporates a video monitor that will address various aspects of the countryside through a variety of audiovisual products.
