Councillor for Education and Culture, Isabel García, together with the Councillor for Tourism, Ginés David Piñero, this morning visited the archaeological site after being declared a protected for its cultural interest by the Department of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The archaeological site of the water tank in Puerto Lumbreras Station has been declared of cultural interest by the General Directorate of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets of the Region of Murcia.
Councillor for Education and Culture, Isabel García, and the Councillor for Tourism, Ginés David Piñero, this morning visited the archaeological site used for water supply in the Islamic period.
"The purpose of documentation of the archaeological Aljibe Station is to protect and preserve archaeological heritage that exists in this area of town. In addition, the site provides cultural and archaeological value to the hamlet of Season-Esparragal, and sive to time to transmit the archaeological history of the town, "said the Councillor for Tourism, Ginés David Piñero.
Specifically, the cistern is located in a place called The Station, 7 kilometers from the town of Puerto Lumbreras and is located on an ancient Quaternary alluvial plain that begins the Guadalentín Valley.
This alluvial plain is divided into terraced fields without tillage, covered by dense shrub and herbaceous vegetation.
As to the date on dating, the site corresponds to a well of the Islamic era, framed chronologically in the thirteenth century, with renovations and modifications over the centuries have allowed to keep it in use until recently to supply channeled water from the wadi in the area.
He is currently the mouth of the cistern and several holes for water.
