Municipal Library of Puerto Lumbreras has increased the number of users in more than 40% in 2010 following the inauguration of the expansion of its infrastructure.
Specifically, during 2010 the library has over 17,000 registered users, while in 2009 were about 10,000 the attention that was paid from the equipment.
Among the views received during the last year, features more than 5,500 users in computer labs, and more than 6,000 loans of books and multimedia material.
"With the commissioning of new infrastructure and services, the library will double the number of users. Since the City Council opted for the inclusion of new and better services to offer users the best options for searching bibliographic and multimedia material "said the Councillor for Education and Culture, Isabel García.
Since the expansion during the past year the Municipal Library of Puerto Lumbreras, in which 441,000 euros were invested, the equipment is registered with the Library Network of the Region of Murcia, and includes reading rooms, internet, media, Comicteca and newspaper spread over three floors and more than 560 meters.
On the other hand, the library is distributed in reading rooms and study and reading rooms for adults.
It also has an infant-juvenile hall where students can access the loan of books, music CDs, films and comics.
In this new room are sorted by color books for ages with the aim of facilitating the loan and quick reference to all audiences.
Another novelty in this room is the pet child Jarita Reader, a turtle that serves to encourage study habits and reading in the smallest municipality.

Through this tool, users get updates and real-time about 15,000 volumes in the library.
In addition, this catalog titles automated reports with the various libraries of the Network of the Region of Murcia, allowing movement about the status of the documents, and the inclusion of new titles integrated into the catalog.
