The 2011 edition of Explum "will focus on recent national and intentional artistic behavior, and will emphasize the works of young artists."

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has issued this morning the basis for the registration of works and projects that will be the eighth edition of the International Competition of Contemporary Art 'Explum'.
The Mayor of the town, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, explained that "this new 2011 edition will focus on recent national and international artistic behavior and also will place special emphasis on the works of young artists."
In this sense, coinciding with the opening of the registration period until 30 November, Sanchez noted that "in recent years the International Competition Explum has become one of the meetings of pop art with the greatest impact within and outside Murcia Region. "
Specifically, the entries can be made through the web www.explum.com.
Each author or group can participate in the contest with a single work done between 2009 and 2010.
In addition, the event's organizers mode imposes no limitation, technical or other characteristics of the works presented, and allowed to register individually or as part of a collective.
Following the opening reception bases and artistic applications, the committee will make an initial selection of projects submitted, and then choose the works that form part of the exhibition and catalog of Competition Explum 2011.
In addition to continuing its international line, in 2011 the Festival will strengthen its artistic concept with the quality of the selection committee this year will be chaired by the director of Explum, Miguel Angel Cayuela, and it will consist Porel Responsible and coordinator of 'Slaughterhouse Madrid ', Pablo and Manuela Villa Berástegui respectively, and the Mexican gallery, Enrique Guerrero, or the artist in the UK, Sam Jury.
Finally, for the acquisition of works, the exhibition comprises a total of 10,000 euros.
The pieces chosen are scheduled to become part of the public library Explum Arte Actual fund created by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras "in order to publicize the work of artists today by dissemination through exhibitions and publications," Sanchez concludes.
