The president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today inaugurated the new public school and Primary Education 'Sacred Heart' in Puerto Lumbreras, which represents an investment of 4.5 billion euros from the regional government and which will expand and improve education in the municipality.
Valcárcel, accompanied by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez and the Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Sotoca Constantine, visited the new school facilities that are located on the street Pablo Casal.
The school has 19 points (seven of Infant and 12 Primary), which has enabled the school to 450 students.
The units replace the old building in downtown, they did not have sufficient space to be expanded.
It also has large common areas, dining room with kitchen, library, laboratories, faculty rooms, two sports courts and a pavilion of 800 square meters.
This, said the president, "turn this school into a modern center with new physical spaces, wider and packed to ensure the quality of education provided."
The ground floor of the three that make up the new school is intended for Early Childhood Education, has exclusive access from the street and has seven rooms equipped with toilets and a playground.

The new facilities of the center "can improve the educational infrastructure network to suit the current needs of students and teachers."
Currently, Puerto Lumbreras has three other infant and primary schools as well as a center of secondary education, with a total of 2,319 students enrolled.
