The City Council, the Autonomous Community and the Commonwealth of Puerto Lumbreras Irrigators will join forces to promote a joint project to modernize the irrigation systems in the municipality.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has installed in recent years numerous stormwater collection networks, to allocate water to the Community of Irrigators of the municipality and promote agricultural and livestock sector.

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, held a meeting with the director general of Irrigation, Julio Antonio Bernal, and President of the Commonwealth of Puerto Lumbreras Irrigation, Antonio Martinez, to tackle a project of modernization of irrigation in the municipality.
Thus, the municipality will continue to work in this area to modernize all irrigation systems in the municipality, and also continue installing new stormwater collection networks as it has done in recent years, for the Community Irrigation water can benefit from gathering these systems.
Sánchez, explained that "the modernization of irrigation systems and networks including rainwater collection aims to optimize the integrated use of water and encourage its use for our Community Irrigation."
Finally, Sanchez concluded explaining that "our government team will support and work in all initiatives that encourage both saving and the arrival of water at Puerto Lumbreras, an essential element that benefits all citizens, and especially to our farmers and ranchers. "
