The town continues the trend set for eight consecutive months, and the session continues to increase measures to promote employment in the locality.
The unemployment rate in the municipality is 9.05%, and is 12 points below the national average which stands at 21.29%.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras continues to record significant declines in the unemployment rate during the month of April and stands at 9.08%, 12 points below the national average unemployment.
Thus, the town continues the trend set in 2010 and 2011, consecutively reducing the unemployment rate.
According to the local mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "Puerto Lumbreras continues to create opportunities. We continue with the trend set in 2010, and from the Council continue to work and reinforcing measures in the field of employability."
According to the latest data from the Regional Service Centre for Employment and Training, the town has been greatly reduced unemployment by creating new jobs and an unemployment rate reaching 9.05%.
Thus, the unemployment rate in the municipality is 12 points lower compared to the national average stands at 21.29% according to the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).
In this regard, Sanchez explained that "the local unemployment continues to fall with better results that show that Puerto Lumbreras is one of the first municipalities to overcome the crisis because every day more lumbrerenses have access to the labor market" .
In this sense, the session continues to increase measures to promote employment in the town, among which career guidance services, employment exchange, or Local Training Plan which includes more than a hundred year training programs, and specific support to different sectors of industry and commerce of the municipality through initiatives that promote economic development, such as the fantastic Castle Nogalte and Puerto Lumbreras Cave Houses that have already received over 3,000 visits in the last month .
