Puerto Lumbreras has implemented educational workshops, cultural activities and social skills courses for people at risk of social exclusion.

The municipality has framed all the initiatives in a specific program being promoted through social services to promote social integration of Roma and other ethnic minorities.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Social Policy, participates in the European project '+ RESPECT' funded by the European Fundamental Rights and Justice, which works to eradicate discrimination against Roma and other European ethnic minorities.

So with this project which is already in its final stage, the City has designed a specific program to promote social integration of Roma and other ethnic minorities in the locality.

Councillor for Employment and Social Policy, M ª Angeles Tunisia, explained that "Puerto Lumbreras is the first town in Spain working on this project with other municipalities in different European countries like Italy, Belgium and Sweden with the aim of fully integrate into society groups and ethnic minorities. "

Specifically, the program designed by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras includes educational workshops and cultural activities led by the Gypsy, and a campaign of information and awareness.

In addition, it will launch an annual program of social activities for people at risk of social exclusion.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has worked for these 2 years with initiatives to promote values ​​of respect, tolerance and integration of ethnic minorities and the Roma.
