The new trail is located in the natural environment of Cabezo la Jara and incorporates a solar system represented at 1,500 meters with two sundials and a mole.
The City Council has launched a program to promote rural tourism in the municipality during the summer months, including visits to the new trail and the Astronomical Observatory during the months of July and August.

More than 600 people have traveled during the month of July with the new trail that counts Astronomical Puerto Lumbreras in the natural environment of Cabezo la Jara.
Specifically, the visits are carried out through a summer program for the Promotion of Rural Tourism, which includes several visits to the Observatory, the paths of Cabezo la Jara and the Center for Nature Interpretation.
Thus, the new trail consists of 1,500 meters Astronomical that cover the natural environment of Cabezo la Jara, and incorporates two sundials and a strategically placed mole in the path.
It also includes a solar system with planets drawn to scale, and through signage and three viewpoints forms a suitable route for observation, contemplation and study of astronomy.
In this sense, the Councillor for Tourism, Maribel Martinez, explained that "the path is established as a new tourism in the natural environment of Cabezo la Jara, which in turn complements other offerings such as the observatory or the Interpretation Centre Nature. "
Thus, they have been over 600 people who made the trail during the month of July.
In addition, during the months of August and September you can visit both the Astronomical Observatory, as the path through guided tours that take place during every Wednesday and Saturday from 22.00.
The Astronomical Observatory Cabezo de la Jara, situated at an altitude of 1246 meters and 7 kilometers from the center of Puerto Lumbreras, was established as the starting point of the new path.
Facilities include a dome, an observation room, a reflecting telescope and a classroom for astronomy.
