The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, along with the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, recently visited the last actions for the rehabilitation of the Castle Nogalte and its environment, including cultural and tourist route through the only themed cave houses in the Region of Murcia.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism allocated for such works a total of 1,240,481 euros.
The rehabilitation of the Castle and its environment has been developed through the Plan to Promote Tourism Product Nogalte Medina and has an investment of over 3.3 million euros from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry Industry, Tourism and Trade, the Federation of Employers of Hospitality Regional de Murcia (Hostemur) and the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
The goal is the enhancement of tourism in the area with a new product that is presented as "Puerto Lumbreras, Viewpoint of History '.
Among the actions that were visited highlights the theming of the cave houses, unique in the Region of Murcia, with which you set up a cultural and tourist route through seven themed areas in the vicinity of Castle Nogalte.
Furthermore, also visited the site of adapting the ancient entrances to the castle, traditionally known as the Cuesta de la Pava, as well as outside the perimeter of the same round, with three viewpoints.
Nogalte Castle was built between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries and is completely rehabilitated.
This set constitutes heritage tourism as the emblem of the town, and is scheduled to take place inside various recreational and cultural activities.
