The Municipal Council has unanimously approved a motion that the City Council joins the "rejection front" of the proposal to reform the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) proposed by the European Union.
The session requested the Central Government to claim "European aid to farmers in order to promote the development of primary sector."
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras approved at the last plenary a motion with the City in addition to the rejection of the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) proposed by the European Union.
Thus, this motion passed unanimously, the session requests the Central Government "claiming more strongly European Union aid for agriculture and livestock to increase economic development in the primary sector."
In this sense, the Mayor of the town, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, explained that "the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy proposed by the European Union in the interests of Spanish farmers, and promotes the competitiveness of Spanish primary ".
Thus, Sanchez explained that "it is a document that adds more bureaucracy to the work of farmers and administrations, does not solve the historical problems of the sector, and focuses attention on the territories and not farmers."
On the other hand, the motion passed by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras also requested the Central Government to "maintain the budget and aid to agriculture and livestock to farmers and ranchers so they can continue to develop its activity."
In this regard, Sanchez concluded by explaining that "the new budget that includes the common agricultural policy must be redefined for the development period 2014 - 2020 and incorporate more aid to support economic growth in the primary sector at European level".
Thus, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has joined the "rejection front" of the Common Agricultural Policy proposed by the European Union, which has also shown the region of Murcia, along with the other autonomous communities, the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, and agricultural organizations.
