The City of Puerto Lumbreras create an Environmental Volunteer Group to promote the protection of the natural environment in the municipality, and increase social awareness in the field of environmental respect.
In this way, and people can register interest in joining the Environmental Volunteer Group "which aims to increase the active participation of citizens in the preservation and enhancement of ecosystems in the municipality," as explained by the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Salvador Martinez.
In this sense, Martinez explained that this is a "new initiative that in addition to promoting respect for the environment and ecosystem recovery, we aim to create a group involving people of all ages and serve as a meeting to promote coexistence and exchange of experiences and ideas related to the environment. "
Thus, the new initiative will be launched jointly by the departments of Development and European Programmes, and the Department of Youth and Volunteering.
Thus, Martinez explained that "with the new Environmental Volunteer Group, will offer new alternatives for leisure and recreation to the citizens, and also promote community involvement in recovery efforts of our natural environment."
Thus, among the initiatives planned include recovery and reforestation efforts in the natural landscape of Cabezo la Jara, considered as a Site of Community Interest, as well as visits to the Center for Nature Interpretation and ecotours Cabezo la Jara, in which also develop maintenance.
In addition, the Environmental Volunteer Group held educational sessions on the environment, and plan the work to be developed in the natural environment of the municipality.
For his part, Councillor for Youth, Sports and Volunteering, Joseph Aragon, "has encouraged young people to participate in this initiative which will also include leisure activities in the most important natural areas of the municipality".
In this sense, Aragon explained that "the City Council make available to all citizens the training and information resources, and tools for the development of environmental remediation programs will be developed through this new initiative."
