The Centre for Children analyzed and studied "all policies and initiatives related to children in the municipality, to ensure their quality of life and social welfare."

The City Council has approved Puerto Lumbreras in the last Full Council a motion extending the services and Child Studies Centre of Puerto Lumbreras, "to place special emphasis on awareness and prevention of violence against children":
The motion was approved with the recent publication of a survey by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) in which an estimated 517,000 children are abused in Spain.
Thus, the council has agreed in the new Municipal Council action to analyze social reality and launch awareness campaigns and prevention of violence against children through the Child Observatory.
In this sense, the Councillor for Equal Opportunities and Children, Catherine Gázquez, explained that "what we want is to have a better understanding of the social reality of our children and strengthen services and studies conducted by the Observatory Minor, to raise awareness and promote campaigns against child violence. "
The Centre for Children in Puerto Lumbreras has been working since 2009 and he studied and analyzed all policies related to the children of the locality.
Thus, the Centre for Children will continue to analyze and study the policies relating to children, and give particular emphasis on new studies and measures to promote the prevention of violence against children.
In addition, the session will consider and propose raising campaigns against violence in the family, and create a protocol to detect and treat possible cases with the professionals who are part of the Centre for Children.
Finally, with the approval of this motion, the session will continue to promote training programs for people working with children in the municipality.
In this sense, the Councillor for Equal Opportunities and Children, Catherine Gázquez, explained that "to expand the services of the Centre for Children, will participate to schools and nurseries, and the Associations of Parents of the town to act in cooperation with all institutions involved. "
