The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, and the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, presented the new edition of International Contemporary Art Explum.
The Committee has selected 12 works from over 700 entries received.
The ninth edition of the International Art Contest 'Explum' will open on Saturday March 31 at the Cultural Center of the Elven House and is on display until 20 April.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras host from next Saturday 31 March to 20 April a new edition of Contemporary Art Contest 'Explum' bringing together a large number of artists of national and international scene.
The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, presented the 2012 edition of the event along with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, and the festival director Explum, Miguel Angel Cayuela.
During the presentation, Sanchez explained that "the festival of Contemporary Art has been dedicated Explum year after year as one of the unmissable art scene in the Region of Murcia".
Thus, stressed that "during the month of April Puerto Lumbreras will become a cultural reference space which will the latest artistic trends of today."
Thus, the traditional meeting, which began in 2004, will feature national and international artists of great prestige, as the author Carlos Irijalba, posing in Explum a work that has been highlighted in the 20 Arco Fair and Irma Laviada with his photographic work, or installation of Henry Radigales.
With them, it also highlights the participation of Spanish Juan Guillém (Painting), or the Mexican Luis Carlos Hurtado (Drawing).
In addition, this year among the selected works will be photography through digital prints Maria Luisa Murillo Chilean and audiovisual work with video projection Eduardo Hurtado.
He will participate with his work in mixed Spanish artist Maria Mallo.
Finally, the exhibition will remain at the Cultural Center of the Elven House until next April 20 will feature art installations by Raul Diaz, Cristina Garrido, Daniel Silvo and Detext

Finally, this year the Selection Committee this year 2012 has been chaired by Miguel Angel Cayuela Lopez, director of "Explum" and has national and international artists such as Ivan Lopez Munuera, independent curator and critic (Spain), Emiliano Valdes, curator (Guatemala) and the Mexican artist Anibal Catalan.
