The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, through the council for Sustainable Development, has designed a programacón of activities to commemorate the Environment Month in the township.
Thus, the Councillor for Sustainable Development and European Programmes, Salvadora Martínez, accompanied by other members of the government team, this morning the "The environment is everyone's business" that drives the session throughout the month of June to promote social awareness on the respect for the environment and sustainable development.
The program includes more than a dozen activities distributed throughout the month and addressed to all sectors of the municipality.

Puerto Lumbreras, a pioneer in environmental actions
Puerto Lumbreras was the first Spanish town to join the Covenant of Mayors, and launched a Local Action Plan which includes more than 60 measures to promote sustainable development and reduction of CO2.
Among the actions that includes the new Local Action Plan include measures for conservation of existing forests, reforestation of degraded areas and the creation of a catalog of green areas through the 'sink effect' can absorb carbon dioxide and transformed into oxygen.
