The City Council has launched a program to encourage rural tourism in the town during the summer months which includes visits to the new path and the Astronomical Observatory during the months of July and August
Five hundred people have come during the month of July the new Astronomical Path with Puerto Lumbreras counts in the natural environment Cabezo la Jara.
Specifically, the visits take place through a summer program for Rural Tourism Development including several visits to the Astronomical Observatory, the trails of Cabezo la Jara and the Interpretation Center of Nature.
Thus, the new Astronomical Path consists of 1500 meters walking natural environment Cabezo la Jara, and incorporates two sundials and one mole strategically located on the route.
It also includes a solar system with the planets drawn to scale, and through three viewpoints forms a suitable route for observation, contemplation and study of astronomy.
In this sense, the Councillor for Tourism, Maribel Martinez, explained that 'the path is set up as a new tourism on the natural environment of Cabezo la Jara, supplementing turn other offers like the observatory or the Interpretation Centre Nature '.
Thus, five hundred have been people who have done the trail during the month of July.
Moreover, during the months of August and September will be open both the Astronomical Observatory, as the path, through guided tours that take place during each Wednesday and Saturday from 22.00h.
The Astronomical Observatory Cabezo de la Jara, located 1246 meters above sea level and 7 km from Puerto Lumbreras core, is established as the starting point of the new path.
Facilities include a dome, an observation room, a classroom and a reflecting telescope astronomy.
