The City Council is to improve by 60-80% energy efficiency of the municipality
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has launched new initiatives for public lighting facilities in order to reduce energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gases.
So, I have explained this morning Councilwoman Sustainable Development, Salvadora Martinez and Councilman Public Works and Services, Eliseo Sanchez.
Specifically, the lamps are replaced low efficiency of existing public lighting for other more efficient technologies.
Note that this change will allow the consistory lumbrerense fit the overall goal of the year 2020 of the European Union.
So, this goal is saving 20% energy, 20% lower emissions of greenhouse gases and increasing to 20% of energy from renewable sources.
In this sense, "the existence of new technologies that reduce power consumption in street lighting, will be used by the City to maintain a minimal energy consumption. This aims to improve the 60-80% energy efficiency of the municipality, "said Martinez Salvadora, Councillor for Sustainable Development.
Finally, note that these initiatives are part of the objectives laid down in the Covenant of Mayors, in which Puerto Lumbreras was the first Spanish town to join, and that involves the development and implementation of a policy municipal energy effective.
