The Spain international organization UNICEF (United Nations Fund for Children), together with the Ministry of Health and Social Services and Equality, and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces have been awarded the accolade of Best Practices Contest VI Municipal Programme 2012 Child Friendly Cities Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras to the educational program "Pequecultura" in the category of Right to Education.
Specifically, learning a second language, the use of new technologies, and the application of new educational techniques are the cornerstones on which the City Council has made this great educational project "Pequecultura", which employs more than thirty professionals.
Thus, also incorporated various educational activities, such as the introduction of English as a second language, or the implementation of a school parents with training and collaboration with families.
In this sense, Pequecultura offers all parents of the town a great opportunity to reconcile family and working life.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, stressed that "through this ambitious project has increased public childcare places 60 to 600, and in turn has launched a comprehensive educational plan that includes numerous services to now exist in the locality. "
Also, the educational project, for the Municipal Nursery Network municipality includes numerous measures to facilitate the reconciliation of work and family life of the parents.
Among the initiatives, highlights the extension of hours in municipal nurseries, and the inclusion of "Toy Library" in all centers, enabling service for children up to 9 years, with shuttle service to and collected from school.
