The State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure (SEIASA) provide advice and technical assistance for irrigation planning and management of the municipality.
The Mayor and the President of the State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure have agreed to design a Municipal Plan Irrigation Improvement in Puerto Lumbreras.
The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, met with the president of the State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure (SEIASA), Francisco North, to pose the needs for modernization and improving irrigation in Puerto Lumbreras after floods last September 28.
So, the council will work with the State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure (SEIASA) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, which is aimed at promoting, hiring and investment holding modernization and consolidation of irrigation.
In this regard, during the meeting it was agreed to design a Municipal Plan Irrigation Improvement team which will drive the final adjustment of the irrigation network in Puerto Lumbreras.
To do this, "SEIASA advise and provide technical assistance in planning and management of irrigation in our town," said the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
Specifically, after the floods, the irrigation network of the Commonwealth of Puerto Lumbreras Irrigation was affected at 100% being destroyed over 21 miles of water main and 30 miles of pipe branches, affecting more than 3,500 hectares of irrigation and a total of 850 villagers.
Moreover, the irrigation network of the Owners and Balsa Cano was hit by 90%, with the total disappearance of 9 kilometers of pipes and conduits as well as significant damage to the raft and in swamps water collection, directly affecting 800 hectares of crops and a total of 139 villagers.
Thus, emergency work performed between the Irrigation Community and Cano the Owners and Balsa have enabled are now restored to 100% of irrigation networks in the municipality.
Thus, the State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure (SEIASA) will work with the council to design a Municipal Improvement Plan that will boost Irrigation adequacy and modernization final irrigation networks.
Finally, the works that result from the new Irrigation Improvement Plan will benefit the Community Irrigation and to the Owners and Caño Balsa and all irrigation networks Agricultural Transformation Societies.
