The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and Forest Owners Association of the Region of Murcia (PROFOMUR) organized a briefing aimed at owners of private forest estates in aid to prevent forest fires and mitigate desertification in these areas.
Specifically, these grants are intended to combat erosion and desertification, as well as fire prevention by conducting a series of actions or investments.
Thus, the municipal offices of the station Esparragal have hosted over fifty people who attended the briefing to learn about these grants, as well as to meet the requirements and procedures to be followed in order to benefit from the thereof.
In this sense, the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Salvadora Martinez, explained that "since the session we wanted to inform all citizens with private forest farms these assistance organized by the Community so that they can benefit from it".
In addition, the councilor added that "in private forest farms are a vital strategic value to the sustainability of water resources, the conservation of biodiversity and the policy on rural development."
Note that the aid has been convened by the Ministry of Presidency, through the Directorate General for the Environment.
The order, published in the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia (BORM), fixed subsidies for activities that promote the stability of tree stands in ecological, silvicultural activities and the provision of preventive forest defense infrastructure.
This publication sets BORM until 29 January, the deadline for submitting applications.
Finally, this call is complemented by another line of support to improve biodiversity in the private forest spaces included in the Natura 2000 network of the Region of Murcia, by performing non-productive investments.
