The Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego, has delivered the distinctiveness through 'Tourist Quality Commitment' Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, who has attended the event along with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz.
Turespaña and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces recognize this distinctive work of the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras to optimize and improve the quality of the services provided by tourism businesses through the Integrated System of Quality Spanish Tourism in Destinations (SICTED).
The town of Puerto Lumbreras received this morning at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) the distinctive 'Tourist Quality Commitment' for his work on the Integrated Quality System for Tourist Destinations (SICTED).
Thus, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego, has delivered the distinctive Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, in a ceremony in which also participated the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz.
Specifically, the distinction has been awarded by the Tourism Institute of Spain (Turespaña) and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), and recognizes the work of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras to optimize and improve the quality of services provided by Township tourism businesses through the Integrated System in Spanish Tourism Quality Destination (SICTED).
In this sense, the mayor, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, said that "the City Council have made a big commitment to tourism as a source of economic development."
Furthermore, he explained that "with the distinctive 'Tourist Quality Commitment' recognizes the work developed our businesses and tourism services that are provided in the municipality."
Thus, Puerto Lumbreras continues to work through the project Integrated Quality System for Tourist Destinations (SICTED) with which he became the ninth destination in the Region of Murcia.
In addition to this project through the City of Puerto Lumbreras works with companies and institutions in the tourism sector through training programs, technical assistance and working with those who are refined services provided for the distinctive Tourism Quality .
In this sense, Sanchez explained that "with the participation of Puerto Lumbreras in the project SICTED improve tourism services in our municipality to increase the satisfaction of tourists visiting the town."
In addition, the project offers many advantages for businesses and tourism services such as improving internal management, technical assistance and increased qualification.
New tourist offer: 'Puerto Lumbreras, Viewpoint of History'
Under the slogan "Puerto Lumbreras. Viewpoint of History", the town offers new tourism products that have been achieved through the enhancement of the environment and Nogalte Castle Cave Houses themed.
Thus, coinciding with the celebration of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), the town of Puerto Lumbreras has introduced its new offering that received thousands of visitors since its launch in 2012.
In this sense, Sanchez explained that "the City Council are designing a new cultural and tourist program to be held at the Castle Nogalte environment throughout the year 2013 in order to continue to increase visits to the new tourist sites."
Specifically, the theming of the cave houses located next to Castle Nogalte, is an adaptation of tourist areas, through a cultural tourist route for visitors to know the existence of an Islamic fortress, caves used as dwellings For centuries, the importance of water culture and handicrafts for the local economy.
The new route offers seven themed areas, among which the House Artisan Workshop, the cave on Cerro de Nogalte history, the traditions cave, cave on water culture, or the cave audiovisual and teaching, among others.
Finally, the City of Puerto Lumbreras has launched website www.medinanogalte.com establishing as a new way of promoting tourism for the municipality.
