The Segura basin (CHS) is studying the construction of a large dam on the boulevard of Nogalte definitively resolving the problems caused by floods and increase water reserves for irrigation.

With a total budget of 8.2 million euros, are co-financed by ERDF funds from the European Union and include the construction of a total of 11 small dams.
These actions are aimed at the correction and stabilization of torrential channels in order to control the processes of erosion, transport and deposition, thus reducing circulating solids flows and regulate fluid flow therein, improving safety.

On the other hand, the Confederation has already invested 1.3 million euros in the recovery of the course of the Rambla de Nogalte and other watercourses in the municipality lumbrerense damaged by flooding.
First, as a matter of urgency, the CHS completed work on two sections of the Rambla de Nogalte, in the urban area and upstream.
Work on the section that crosses the population consisted of riverbed protection works by retrieving rakes.
Regarding the upper stretch, breakwaters have been placed, protected and consolidated margins slopes.
Finally also have been five hydrological correction works in different wadis of Puerto Lumbreras.
Repairs is jetties in the wadis of the Murciano, Vilerda and the Five Oliveras, besides protecting margins with a new breakwater in the Barranco del Confectioner and improving communication at various points between the margins of the promenade El Murciano.
