The City Council has designed a program of activities throughout the month of June that includes an environmental awareness campaign at the weekly market, the II Contest of Stories on Environment, recycling workshops for children as well as an educational program on energy saving schools.
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Sustainable Development, has designed a program of activities to mark Environment Month.
Thus, the Councillor for Sustainable Development and European Programs, Salvadora Martinez, along with Councilman Utilities, Eliseo Sanchez, and the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Maribel Martinez, presented this morning the "The environment is everyone" that drives the City throughout the month of June to promote social awareness of environmental respect and sustainable development.
Thus, the program includes more than ten distributed activities throughout the month of June and targeting all sectors of the population of the municipality.
'' Once again, Puerto Lumbreras shows its commitment to the environment and sustainability through a program that includes numerous activities to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving our environment, recycle, save water and encourage the use of energy clean, "said Martinez Salvadora, Councillor for Sustainable Development.
Specifically, among the initiatives include conducting an environmental awareness campaign on waste management and water saving in the weekly market on Friday June 7, as well as the First Contest of Popular Science on environmental issues in the IES Rambla Puerto Lumbreras Nogalte on Wednesday June 5.
Among other acts, to be held this week to coincide with World Environment Day is the second edition of the Short Story Contest on Environment and recycling holiday workshops for children which made reusing cardboard crafts (photo frames , keychains, custom booklet ...).
On the other hand, the program of activities also includes the Route II Biosalud, in which physical activities will be advised by a sports coach in the Reina Sofia Park, and a radio program on savings in water use in private homes .
Furthermore, it will give a lecture on waste management in business at 20:00 in classroom training fixed Ecopuerto, and a talk on management and impacts of waste on the IES Nogalte Rambla.
The program, promoted by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, has the support of Grupo La Generala, Caixa Bank and Public Water Utility in the Region of Murcia.

Puerto Lumbreras was the first Spanish town to join the Covenant of Mayors, and has recently been certified by the European Energy Awar endorse it as Sustainable Municipality.
