The Municipal Council has unanimously approved a motion requesting the Government to consider the inclusion of knowledge of first aid, road safety, self-protection and emergency programs in Elementary and Secondary Education.

The aim is that children acquire basic knowledge in the field of civil protection, allowing them to self-protection and to be comfortable in a critical situation while awaiting the arrival of emergency services.

The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Municipal Council, unanimously adopted a motion requesting the State Government, in collaboration with the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, consider the inclusion of knowledge of first aid, safety road emergencies such as self-protection and cross-mandatory content or programs Elementary and Secondary Education.

In this sense, the aim is that children acquire basic knowledge in the field of civil protection, allowing them to self-protection and to be comfortable in a critical situation while awaiting the arrival of emergency services.

Thus, the Councillor for Education and Social Policy, Maria Angeles Tunisia, explained that "it is very important to train our children in first aid, road safety and emergencies in order to raise their awareness from school, and early age of how to act before accidents such as fires, landslides or environmental or technological disasters. "

In addition, the councilor added that "it would be good to include in the curriculum of youth training in first aid, road safety and self-protection so that they know basic support techniques in case of accidents or emergencies."

Finally, the Municipal Council has agreed to transfer according to the Department of Education Training and Employment, the Department of Public Safety and Emergency, the Delegation of the Government in the Region of Murcia, to the Local Group of Civil Protection, directors of Schools and AMPAS Township of schools in Puerto Lumbreras.
