The new Police Centre has 235 square feet on one floor consisting of a reception area, offices for customer service, offices, crowded room, toilets, changing rooms and gunsmith.
In this sense, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "this is a new measure included in the austerity plan of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, and involves the relocation of departments of local government in our own facilities , eliminating budget in rent ".
"With the location of the local police in the new facilities, the City will save more than 7,000 per year in rent from the previous location of the local police," remarked Maria Angeles Tunisia.
Furthermore, it indicated that the new facilities have been adapted to "improve the public service provided by the local police."
Also, the works that have been carried out for the conditioning of these new units have been demolition and replacement of walls, cladding, welding, painting, carpentry, facilities and access ramps for people with disabilities.
Currently, the staff of the local police in Puerto Lumbreras has 24 agents and has a fleet of five vehicles and four motorcycles.
In the opening ceremony, the Minister Manuel Campos highlighted the "strong commitment" of the Regional Government in public safety, for which the Ministry of Presidency has invested in the municipality, through the Public Safety Plan, 1,588,079 euros and earmarked 10 police force effective to Puerto Lumbreras in the last six years.
To this figure must be added EUR 167 192 for the purchase of equipment, computer equipment and vehicles, "which has strengthened policing," said Campos.
Projects to enhance the development and growth of the municipality

In this sense, Campos said his department has allocated 3,876,251 euros in the last five years to improve the town, meeting the demands municipal works, goods and services.
Thus, it has undertaken to improve the margins of current CN-340 Avenida Juan Carlos I, the conditioning of Lorca Old Road in the stretch comprising between La Seca and the Way of the Valencian, paving sidewalks and driveways in the Station, the execution of the works access to Primary Care Centre in the French Quarter, the renovation of sidewalks and street chipboard Jose Caballero Oliver and Vicente Ruiz Llamas, construction of a retaining wall on the street Barranco, and acquisition of public furniture (benches, litter bins and playgrounds elements).
