The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, made the first visit framed within Innpulso Network program at IMDEA Energy facilities in Madrid for new biotechnological processes for the production of energy.
Puerto Lumbreras is part of the Network Innpulso work alongside other Spanish municipalities recognized with the distinction of 'City of Science and Innovation'.
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras already acceded to the Red Innpulso after winning the distinction of 'City of Science and Innovation' awarded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
Thus the aim of the Network is to recognize and encourage Innpulso performances on Science and Innovation to enhance the innovative potential and serve as a model for other municipalities in order to help change the production model towards a sustainable economic and social .
Thus, the mayor of the municipality, Maria Angeles Tunisia participated in the first workshop which included a visit to the facilities of IMDEA Energía in Madrid for new biotechnological processes for the production of energy.
In this regard, Tunisia, explained that "part of the Red Innpulso allow the municipality to implement innovative projects or scientific in collaboration with other Spanish municipalities that are part of this network."
Thus, this award is given to those municipalities that have demonstrated their effort and commitment to R & D, creating opportunities to strengthen and promote science and innovation from the municipal level.
This initiative also promotes "innovation in municipalities, key to achieving the European objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy, encouraging activities that allow Spain to increase their competitiveness and to value the capabilities of the science, technology and innovation" .
So, after the accession of Puerto Lumbreras Innpulso Network run collaborative projects between municipalities that are integrated into the Web On this first visit, the Mayor of the town has known IMDEA Energy facility that is located in the Process Unit Biotechnology for the production of energy and a solar simulator, high flux density, an experimental facility for simulation of solar concentration, specially designed to achieve high energy flows.
In the energy sector, Puerto Lumbreras continues to work to reduce consumption in all public lighting systems in all municipal facilities.
To this end, have launched cooperation agreements between the public and private sector handled by open competitive dialogue procedure, for the overall implementation of various energy services and municipal infrastructure facilities which aims to reduce energy consumption by more than 30 %.
